During these busy winter months

Our 2 local pharmacies - Thatcham Pharmacy and Halo Pharmacy are both receiving excellent patient feedback. They also offer prescription delivery services. We are seeing more patients again getting their prescriptions from our local Pharmacies, rather than online. I think this is important as it should help sustain Pharmacy services in Thatcham. As you may know, we have gone from four Pharmacies a few years ago, to two today. You can help make getting a prescription more efficient for the NHS generally by having a nominated (regular) pharmacy and where possible, ordering your medication through the NHS App.

As well as dispensing prescription medication, both Thatcham and Halo Pharmacies offer the following services that are free to use and often more convenient than booking a GP appointment. Patients using these services free us up, allowing GP teams to see patients with more complex needs.

Contraception

Both the local pharmacies are able to authorise and then dispense new and repeat prescriptions for all daily contraceptive pills. This avoids needing to see a GP or Practice Nurse for a 'Pill Check'. Both Pharmacies are open every Saturday, the service is free of charge and an appointment is not needed. If you are considering starting the contraceptive pill, or you need a review of your pill, please consider going direct to one of your local pharmacies.

Pharmacy First

As you may be aware, for 7 common illnesses, you can go direct to a Pharmacy and receive a consultation and prescription treatment, on a walk-in basis.
